OVERVIEW: The Paket‑NK M‑15 is a Russian lightweight, ship-launched anti-torpedo torpedo introduced in 2008. It is rocket-powered, wire-less, and uses active/passive acoustic homing to intercept incoming torpedoes defensively.

DETAILS: “M‑15” is the anti-torpedo component of the Paket‑NK (Package-NK) point-defense complex. It measures approximately 3.1–3.2 m in length, 324 mm in diameter, weighs ~380–400 kg, and carries an ~80 kg high-explosive warhead. Propulsion is via hydroreactive solid-fuel (rocket) driving pump-jet fins, supporting speeds up to ~50 kn and an interception range of 100–1 400 m at depths to 800 m. Guidance is autonomous using inertial mid-course navigation, transitioning to active/passive acoustic homing at around 400 m to lock onto the attacking torpedo. It entered operational service in 2008 aboard 20380/20385 corvettes and 22350 frigates and forms part of the SM‑588 modular launch system.

TYPE: Lightweight ship-launched active/passive acoustic homing anti-torpedo torpedo

FUNCTION: Automatically launched from 324 mm tubes once the ship’s hydroacoustic system detects an incoming torpedo. M‑15 flies a pre-set inertial trajectory, then switches to acoustic homing at close range to intercept and detonate proximity or contact fuse near the threat.
